I am an artist, musician, and software engineer based in Australia. I sometimes go by the name 'nf' or 'enneff'.
I may be available for short-term contract work as a filmmaker, composer, or software engineer (with deep expertise in Go, developer workflows, distributed systems, technical writing, and training). If that interests you, please get in touch.
From 2006 to 2008 I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photomedia) at the College of Fine Arts UNSW. During that time I produced and exhibited a volume of photographic work, before promptly being distracted by a career in software. Recently I returned to my art practice.
Scribula is an art film about Ogmograptis scribula (scribbly gum moth) that I directed, shot, edited, and soundtracked in early 2025. It is currently being screened at festivals and galleries.
Large-format photography of the Botany Industrial Park in Botany, New South Wales. Presented as 1.25x1m light boxes at the COFA Annual in November 2008.
The works were awarded The Kayell Award for Photomedia at the COFA Annual in November 2008. Study #1 was a finalist in the CATAPULT Emerging Artist Award in October 2008.
I love music, especially electronic music, and sometimes I even make some.
Some of my music is available on streaming services under the artist name 'enneff'.
Andromeda is a downtempo IDM tune, inspired by the awesome images produced by the Hubble Space Telescope.

I have worked as a programmer since the late 90s. In 2010 I joined Google where I worked on various projects until mid-2024.
I spent nearly seven years building The Go Programming Language at Google. While I did a lot of programming and design work, a large part of my role was building a community around the language and managing the open source project.
Some artifacts from that time:
From mid-2016 to the end of 2017 I worked on Upspin, an experimental distributed file system for storing and sharing everything.
From 2018 to mid-2024 I was the technical lead for a research and development team focused on open source software tooling. Among other things, we built deps.dev.
In 2023 I became enamoured with the Uxn/Varvara ecosystem, and to it I contributed a couple of open source projects.
nux is a cross-platform implementation of the Uxn virtual machine, which includes an interactive debugger. It is implemented in Go (of course).
fourtette is a Tetris clone for Uxn. I took care to implement the Super Rotation System, so that it plays like many modern Tetrises.
